Certified Music Therapist
Jamie George, MM, LPMT, MT-BC started The George Center for Music Therapy, Inc. in 2010. She is a licensed and nationally board-certified music therapist, and a licensed Kindermusik® Educator. Jamie holds additional certifications in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Music Therapy (NICU-MT).
Jamie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Music with a concentration in Music Therapy, from the University of Georgia. She completed her graduate research studying music therapy and its effects on children with sensory processing disorder. Jamie completed her internship working with exceptional children in the Fulton County Schools Music Therapy Department in metro Atlanta. Additionally, she served as Assistant Director and Music Therapist with Therabeat, Inc. at In Harmony Pediatric Therapy, in Canton, GA for 3 years. Jamie specializes in pediatric and neonatal populations and employs 8 music therapists that specialize in varying disorders, diagnoses, and needs.
She is a member of the American Music Therapy Association, serving on the Ethics Board and as co-chair for the Government Relations Committee. Furthermore, she serves as Secretary for the Southeastern Region of the American Music Therapy Association and Reimbursement Chair for the Music Therapy Association of Georgia. Jamie also serves on the Georgia state music therapy task force and the Georgia Secretary of State appointed Music Therapy Advisory Committee.
